I poured the child cast in porcelain and covered it for the weekend. After it had set a little, I applied 2 slabs to complete the top of the skull; the slipcast has a spout top, presumably because the doll factory set it came from had a separate mold for the hair cap.<\/div>\n

I steadily blended them onto the cast using a serrated kidney, glueing the slab down with thick porcelain slip.<\/div>\n

I’m really pleased with how it came out.<\/div>\n

The bottom of the neck got sliced off so it could sit level to, and be blended in with, the base of the porcelain bowl that I slip-cast next.<\/div>\n

Looking at the first image, I like it with the clingfilm over the face. Even though it’s only a technical thing to keep the clay wet, it does add tension and discomfort to the piece, plus it brings plastic into the conversation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
